YOUTH ON TRIAL

Verse 1
They did their worst, they did their best. I hope when I’m judged, I pass the test.
This life is hard, filled with truth. No matter what they taught me in my youth.

Chorus
Been circling this sun for a while,
Think it’s time to put my youth on trial.

Verse 2
Skin your knee, rub in some dirt. Say a prayer, if you lose your shirt.
Shut the door, were you born in a barn? Is this true? I don’t give a darn

Verse 3
Don’t light a candle at both ends. Don’t break fences you can mend.
Don’t confuse lust with love. And always give thanks to the Lord above.

Chorus
Been circling this sun for a while,
Think it’s time to put my youth on trial.

Verse 4
If he jumped off a cliff, would you follow? Don’t bite off more than you can swallow.
This hurts me more than it hurts you. Without these words of wisdom, what would we do?

Verse 5
Wait for marriage, keep your virtue intact. Don’t say bad words, you can’t take them back.
Money doesn’t grow on trees, you know. From my parents’ mouth, these words did flow.

Chorus
Been circling this sun for a while,
Think it’s time to put my youth on trial.

Verse 6
Skin my knee, now I swear. Open the door, cuz I like fresh air.
I burn four candles at a time. And I love like it’s not a crime.

Verse 7
My mouth is full. You don’t know my pain. My virtue is washed in the cold, clean rain.
Money still doesn’t grow on trees. And it takes a lot to get me on my knees

Chorus
Been circling this sun for a while,
Think it’s time to put my youth on trial.
